These seminars are packed with information from beginning to end! We provide the laptops so you can take the reins and ride through menu planning!  By the end of the workshop each student will be able to create popular and healthy menu choices that meet dietary guidelines under food based and Nutrient Standard Menu Planning (NSMP) regulations. 101 Workshop (Day 1)

Course Description: NUTRIKIDS 101 is a comprehensive training session that provides you with a complete overview of the basics of menu planning with NUTRIKIDS. Even a computer novice will gain comfort and knowledge needed to make  our software work for you.
 
What you will learn:
  • How to navigate the USDA Ingredient Database as well as the NUTRIKIDS Brand Products database
  • Adding and modifying new ingredients
  • Review of USDA Standardized recipes
  • Adding and modifying new local recipes
  • Planning menus in a Calendar format
  • Doing a nutritional analysis of menus

Prerequisites:
Competency with a mouse

Advanced Workshop (Day 2)

Course Description:
The Advanced NUTRIKIDS Training expands upon your knowledge from NUTRIKIDS "101".  This session focuses on the detailed features and functions within the software and is designed to turn our seasoned users into experts.
 
What you will learn:
  • Create standardized salad bar recipes and shortcut (variety) recipes
  • Learn how to use sub-recipes and batch quantities
  • Analyzing and modifying menu choices to meet USDA nutritional guidelines
  • Creating and using a list of Cycle menus
  • Copying calendar menus from month to month, or age group to age group
  • Nutrient Standard menu planning guidelines
  • Add production quantities and print a daily production record
  • Format your production records
  • Print a shopping list of ingredients needed in your menus
  • Cost out your menus and menu items
  • Enter in a physical count of your inventory to get an overall value
  • Introduction to Calendar Artist II lets you use your NUTRIKIDS data to transform your menu into a work of art by adding kid-friendly graphics, memos, and headings.
