A message to our Menu Planning Customers:
The ruling is final and implementation dates are fast approaching for the new Nutrition Standards for your Lunch Program and you’re probably anxious to get started making necessary changes where needed. If you currently are a Nutrient Standard Menu Planner, take comfort in knowing that over 70% of our customers have been using NUTRIKIDS to plan their Food Based Menus (FB) for many, many years. We understand that this new FB menu planning approach is not your FB plan of old and will require much more tracking. Therefore, some level of change will be required from most all menu planners.
If you have purchased your support and maintenance update for 2011-2012, you should have already received version 13 and hopefully attended one of our free “What’s New for You” online classes. These classes were designed to give an overview of the subgroups we added in version 13 of our NUTRIKIDS Menu Planning software. We have several other enhancements to make as soon as we get the green light from the USDA along with their guidance documentation.
Here are just some of the new features that we are planning to release over the next several updates, pending our final guidance from the USDA:
- Menu Age/Grade Grouping Changes Minimum/Maximum levels for calories
- Base line values for Sodium
- 0 Trans Fat Visibility
- Fruit/Vegetable/Juice category
- Breakdown to separate Fruit and Vegetable categories
- Re-write of Reports to reflect the Fruit and Vegetable categories accurately
- Tracking features for subgroups
- Self-Audit features
We appreciate your business and look forward to working with you through the new Nutrition Standards.
